I would be 100% okay with a base model 911. Granted, it has $28k in options after playing with the configurator, but still, I’ll never need half the stuff that the more expensive models offer (other than maybe all-wheel drive).
Also, the new Panamera sounds great, and a Panamera Sport Turismo would be heavily looked at if I won the lottery and eventually had kids.

Meh, people will be people. When I tell people I should have got a 320i instead of a 328i, people think I’m crazy. Likewise my base Solstice vs everyone with a GXP or a supercharger kit.

Granted, for some reason I still want a 340i. But yes. Most base models are fast enough without getting into irresponsible territory.

I’m with you. The only 911 I’d actually want right now is a base red 911 with a stick and brown interior. Plenty of power and capability to get myself into trouble lol

Seems the consensus from Rennlist and other forums is that with the new turbo engines the “base” Carrera has enough torque so that the extra $14k for the S is not worth it; plan to drop $15k-$20k on either one to get the options you want anyway.

I don’t recall any recent base Porsche 911 being slow. Pricey with insane options like how the Cayman ends up costing $90,000 is? Yes, but not slow.. :P
